Now, put the balance salmon in the food processor and just pulse three or four times to make salmon coarsely chopped. This is an important step; do not over-process the salmon as you don’t want to make a paste. Then, transfer the second batch also to the same bowl.

Add minced onions, coriander, sweet paprika, black pepper, sumac, salt and chopped parsley to the salmon and give all a proper mix. Then cover the bowl and place it in a fridge for about 30 minutes.

Until then, you can concentrate on the toppings. Prepare the arugula, buns, onion and tomato along with Tzatziki sauce as your wish.

After 30 minutes, take the mixture out of the fridge and separate the paste into four equal sizes. Keep in mind, the thickness of the paste should be around an inch. Now, take the bread crumbs and place them on a plate. Then, put the four patties on the bread crumbs and apply crumbs on both sides of the patties.

Cooking

It’s time to cook the salmon patties. Take about three tablespoons of olive oil and heat them over medium heat. The oil should be hot before you place the patties, but there shouldn’t be smoke coming from the oil.

Now, place the salmon patties on the hot oil; you have to be gentle when placing patties as they will tend to break if you failed to handle them delicately. Cook for 4 minutes, and flipping has to happen only once. The goal is to bring the patties to be light golden brown, and you can adjust the heat to meet the required levels. Also, make sure you don’t scorch the bread crumbs.

Take salmon patties out of the pan and rest them on a paper towel to get rid of excess oil. Now squeeze lemon juice and if you want, sprinkle a bit of salt as well. Finally, apply Tzatziki sauce to the buns and place the fried salmon patties; then, you can add the toppings. That’s it, and now you can enjoy restaurant-type mouthwatering juicy salmon burgers.

Must-follow tips of juicy salmon burger recipe

You might have noticed that we have mentioned certain important factors in the process of making salmon burgers. We thought it would be helpful for you if we elaborate on them more comprehensively to get the exact taste of this salmon burger recipe. Here are our tips.

Tip # 1: do not grind the salmon excessively

You might question the purpose of grinding salmon in two different stages. This is more to do with the texture of the salmon, and to get real taste and appearance, you have to grind the salmon in two stages. The second stage of the grind will help salmon retain moisture, which is super-important to make the final result juicy.

Tip # 2: Never add breadcrumbs to the salmon paste

This is another thing that you should avoid to retain the moisture of the mixture. If you add bread crumbs to the mix along with the spices, the bread crumbs will absorb the moisture of the paste, and the burger would be unwantedly dry.

In addition, applying crumbs right before cooking will help patties form a gorgeous crust on the top while keeping the inner part soft and moist.

Tip # 3: Make sure you keep the mix at least 30 minutes in a fridge

This step is crucial to keep the mix intact; else, the parts of the patties tend to fall apart when you cook them. You should allow a minimum of 30 minutes for the formation; until then, you can use this interval to prepare good-looking toppings with onions, arugula and tomato.

Tip # 4: The thickness of the patties should be an inch

Again, this is another factor that decides the juiciness of the burger. If you flat out the paste, the patties will get fried right through to the middle part, which you should prevent at all costs. Here, an inch would be the ideal thickness, and it will make patties look beautiful between the buns as well.

Tip # 5: Do not overcook the salmon patties

This salmon burger recipe is not a crispy one; hence you should make sure to avoid overcooking the mix. The heat should always be at medium heat, and the crust of bread crumbs must be light golden brown when you take the patties out. Flip only once, and total cooking time has to be limited to four minutes.

As we said, keep an eye on the heat and if you notice that heat is too much or the patties get brown rather quickly, reduce the flames to maintain the heat at ideal levels.
